  3. NACE Codes and how to use them

The Sales.Rocks Company and Contact Search modules are built around a neat filtering system that can look through all the data on our platform and find the specific information you are looking for according to your chosen data point.

A great way to do this is to use the NACE Code subfilter under the Industry filter, to get that piece of data you want ๐Ÿ‘€

*Our data is based on the current NACE revision 2 as established by the Regulation (EC).

What are NACE Codes?

NACE (Nomenclature des Activités Économiques dans la Communauté Européenne) is the European industry standard classification system. It fulfils the same function as the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), classifying businesses based on their activities ๐ŸŒ

The NACE Codes system uses a classification hierarchy based on four levels  โฌ‡๏ธ

Level 1: 21 sections identified by alphabetical letters A to U;
Level 2: 88 divisions identified by two-digit numerical codes (01 to 99);
Level 3: 272 groups identified by three-digit numerical codes (01.1 to 99.0);
Level 4: 629 classes identified by four-digit numerical codes (01.11 to 99.00).

Here is a complete list of NACE Codes ๐Ÿ‘€ that you can use!

If you want to find companies within an industry (for example the Accommodation  industry), you can see the  Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4  classification hierarchy, like the following:

I - ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD SERVICE ACTIVITIES
55 - Accommodation
551 - Hotels and similar accommodation
5510 - Hotels and similar accommodation

Case 1. Search for companies within an Industry or a subsection of an industry group

Let's take the example from above and search within the Accommodation Industry โฌ‡๏ธ

In the Industry filter, add the "NACE Code" subfilter to your search parameters and click on " Select NACE codes ".  Next, to select only the Accommodation industry or a subsection from it, click on the arrow next to  I - Accommodation and Food Service Activities and the arrow next to   55 - Accommodation. Through this, you'll be able to check what's within each industry and their subsections, such as the example above which contains: 551 - Hotels and similar accommodation and 552 - Hotels and other short-stay similar accommodation.

To sum up, depending on how much detail you'd like to go into, you can select:
  1. A whole industry โžก๏ธ I - Accommodation and Food Service Activities, or
  2. A subsection of an Industry โžก๏ธ 55 - Accommodation, or
  3. A subsection of a subsection of an Industry ๐Ÿฅด 551 - Hotels and similar accommodation and 552 - Hotels and other short-stay similar accommodation

As you can see, the NACE Code filter allows you to focus on a niche part of your desired market and potentially target 11563 businesses more accurately with the contact data available. Now let’s talk about finding companies in a broad range of industries more easily  โฌ‡๏ธ

Case 2. Search for companies in different industries

Besides searching by one industry or subsection of it, you can expand your industry targeting by adding multiple industry groups at the same time to the previous search parameters, to find businesses that fit your product offering perfectly.
Example: In the same section I - Accommodation and Food Service Activities, you can also select the 56 - Food and beverage service activities and the 561 - Restaurants and mobile food service activities filter, or you can select a completely different Industry in other fields of activity which is not part of the  I - Accommodation and Food Service Activities group, up to you ๐Ÿ˜‰

By adding another industry group to your search, the number of businesses that fit your ideal client profile will increase, since your search won't be limited anymore to only one Industry (or subsection of an Industry) and the choice will be bigger!
With additional search criteria, you can lower that number but improve much more your targeting by maybe filtering businesses according to City location, Company Status based on Founding Year, Company Size based on Revenue Range, and much more from our rich range of filters ๐Ÿ˜

These are the basics of NACE codes ๐Ÿ˜Ž
We hope this guide is useful and makes selecting your targeted companies much easier ๐Ÿงก
